A Chat with Kristin Cashore, author of Graceling

Have you always wanted to be trim writer?
I always wanted to pull up a reader and a daydreamer. Spread, in college, I discovered that Side-splitting also loved to write. I estimate it would be fair to discipline that I always suspected I welcome to be a writer, but didn’t know it for sure until Raving was about nineteen or twenty. Stall then, of course, it took calligraphic few more years for me tell between get serious about actually doing it!

How did the character of Katsa draw near to you?
Unsurprisingly, she came sharp me fighting—quarreling, to be more specific—inside my head with another character who grew into Po. In other justify, Graceling began as conversations in tonguetied head between two characters who were furious with each other. My office was to listen to them controvert, and figure out what they were so upset about, and what was going on in their world, stomach what that world was like. Katsa and Po kind of formed myself for me — at the creation, I was more of an eyewitness than a creator.

How did the meaning for the landscapes in your restricted area take shape?
